A leisurely stroll along the Natisone River turned tragic for three friends in Udine, Italy. Patrizia Cormos, Bianca Doros, and Cristian Molnar found themselves stranded as the water surged unexpectedly. Despite efforts from firefighters and bystanders, they were swept away.
Giorgio Basile, chief firefighter, described the harrowing scene: “We threw them a rope, but they were literally swallowed up by the flood waters in front of our eyes.”
Two bodies were recovered, while the search for Molnar continues. Cormos and Doros, visiting Italy, had parked by the river to snap photos after an exam celebration. Michele De Sabata, the local mayor, highlighted the rapid change of river conditions.
