The Legacy of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Through Their Nine Children

Roy Rogers, the “King of the Cowboys,” and his wife, Dale Evans, the “Queen of the West,” were iconic Hollywood stars known for their films and “The Roy Rogers Show.” They raised nine children, blending joy with significant challenges.

Their children’s lives mirror their parents’ resilience. Cheryl Rogers, adopted in 1941, appeared in Roy’s films. Linda Lou, Roy’s biological daughter, lives in California with family. Roy Rogers Jr., or “Dusty,” managed his father’s career and became a musician.

Tragedy struck with the death of their daughter Robin, who had Down syndrome, honored in Dale’s book Angel Unaware. Dodie, adopted at seven months, became a grandmother. Deborah, adopted during the Korean War, died in a bus accident at 12, and Sandy Rogers, adopted after Robin’s death, choked at 18 in a military hospital.

Dale’s son from her first marriage, Tom Fox, was a school teacher and passed away in 2012. Their story is one of “joy, tragedy, and enduring love,” continuing to inspire many.
