Sam Elliott, who turned 79 in 2023, met Katharine Ross on the set of “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” and fell in love instantly. Despite initial hesitation, they finally connected during “The Legacy” in 1978. Their enduring marriage, now spanning over three decades, reflects Elliott’s commitment to hard work and mutual love:
“We have a common sensibility, but we also work at being together. You work past the [expletive]; you don’t walk away from it. That’s how relationships last.”
Their bond, which began with Ross’s fifth and Elliott’s first marriage, has been fortified by their shared values and resilience against media gossip:
“…we don’t get in too deep. We don’t believe all the [expletive] in the rags. And we work hard. Katharine and I have a lot in common.”
The couple, proud parents to their daughter Cleo Rose, cherish family time in Malibu, where they enjoy a simple life surrounded by animals. Despite his Hollywood success, Elliott finds joy in the quiet moments with his loved ones:
“Life’s good. We live in Malibu and have horses and dogs and cats and chickens. We shovel [expletive], man. That keeps you humble.”
