Rob Burrow’s Passing and Tribute

Rob Burrow, the beloved Leeds Rhinos and England rugby star, passed away on June 2 at 41 after a prolonged battle with motor neurone disease (MND). His death shocked fans and friends alike. A civil reception was held at Leeds Civic Hall to honor his life and contributions, organized by Lord Mayor Abigail Marshall Katung. Notable attendees included Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Tanya Curry, and James Lewis.

On July 7, Burrow’s funeral drew hundreds of mourners who lined the streets in blue Leeds Rhino shirts to pay their respects.

The cortege, accompanied by a police motorcycle, included Burrow’s wife Lindsey, their children Macy, Maya, and Jackson, and his family members. His coffin was draped in blue cloth with “Dad,” “Bro,” and “Son” flowers.

Burrow’s final message encouraged people not to “waste a moment” and to “dare to dream.” Lindsey Burrow praised him for “making the world a better place.” In a tribute, friend Ian Flatt, who also has MND, is climbing seven mountains in a wheelchair to honor Burrow.
