Savannah Combs, 23, was thrilled to learn she was expecting twins, but faced a rare challenge when both were diagnosed with Down syndrome. “My little gems,” she calls them, despite some harsh judgments.
Twins are already uncommon, occurring in only 33 out of every 1,000 births, and identical twins are rarer still. Mono-di twins with Down syndrome are even more exceptional. Savannah, who shared her journey on TikTok with her daughters, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, received criticism suggesting she should have terminated the pregnancy.
Despite being born prematurely and needing NICU care, Savannah’s twins are thriving. She proudly embraces their uniqueness and has cherished each moment of their lives. “Their uniqueness is their beauty,” she says, reflecting her deep love and commitment to her daughters.
