In a touching gesture of support, an Ontario family celebrated their 8-year-old daughter, Ella Scott, with a gender reveal party. Ella, who had previously identified as a boy, expressed her feelings to her parents two years ago, sparking a journey of understanding and acceptance.
Nikki and Graham Scott, Ella’s parents, initially assumed it might be a phase. Nikki observed Ella’s preference for activities and toys traditionally associated with girls. Reflecting on Ella’s journey, Nikki said, “With Ella, it was like she always knew who she was, but we just didn’t understand.”
At six, Ella expressed her desire to wear skirts and dresses. Despite uncertainties, Nikki and Graham supported Ella’s choices, even letting her choose a skirt and cat ears for Halloween. This pivotal moment led the family to delve into transgender issues. Ella confidently asserted, “I’m not a boy, I don’t feel like this inside.”
