Off-duty deputies Lucas and Nicole Shoffner were struck by a vehicle while fixing a dirt bike roadside on August 1. Lucas heroically pushed Nicole to safety, sustaining severe head injuries himself. Former sergeant Matt Fagiana praised Lucas as “kind, loyal, funny, and resilient,” rallying support for the injured deputies.
Currently in a medically induced coma at UT Medical Center, Lucas receives widespread support, including from his former colleagues at the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office. Nicole recently shared on Instagram that Lucas is now out of intensive care after 40 days, marking the beginning of their healing journey.
This incident highlights the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers like Lucas, who risk their lives to protect others. The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office continues to request prayers for their recovery on social media, emphasizing the resilience and unity within the law enforcement community.
