At my father’s funeral, my stepmom, Vivian, and her four kids wore all white, which starkly contrasted with the black attire of the mourners. When I confronted her, she claimed, “Your father wanted this,” showing a letter she said was his final wish.
However, during the service, my father’s best friend, Joe, read a different letter from my dad. “During my illness, Martha, my ex-wife, was there for me, while Vivian and her children were absent unless they needed something,” Joe revealed. The crowd gasped in disbelief.
The surprise didn’t stop there. Joe further exposed, “My financial advisor discovered Vivian and her children were stealing money from me.” He then read my father’s words: “I asked them to wear white so everyone could see them for what they are.” Vivian’s face drained of color as the truth hit.
Furious and humiliated, Vivian stormed out with her children. Afterward, we honored my father’s life, and I couldn’t help but smile. “Dad always knew how to pick his moments,” I whispered.
