Jimmy Kimmel recently shared a heartfelt update about his son’s health journey following his third open heart surgery at the age of seven. Born with a rare congenital heart condition, Billy underwent the procedure, leaving Kimmel both hopeful and anxious. On Instagram, Kimmel expressed gratitude for the support received during this challenging time and acknowledged the staff at LA Children’s Hospital for their care.
“Our boy Billy had his third (of three, we hope) open heart surgery,” Kimmel wrote. “We went into this experience with a lot of optimism and nearly as much fear and came out with a new valve inside a happy, healthy kid.”
Kimmel also thanked well-wishers who prayed for Billy and urged donations to support the hospital where Billy has been treated since birth. Reflecting on the experience, Kimmel found solace in Billy’s recovery but remained aware of others less fortunate.
“While we’re grateful Billy is doing well, many families face longer stays,” Kimmel shared. His son was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) with pulmonary atresia, highlighting the challenges families with children battling serious illnesses endure daily.
