Dolly Parton, 77, an iconic figure in country music and entertainment, has announced her retirement from touring. Despite a storied career filled with performances loved by fans worldwide, she now plans to focus on creating music without the demands of extensive travel.
In a recent interview with Pollstar, Parton revealed her decision: “I’ll do special shows here and there, now and then. Maybe do a long weekend of shows, or just a few shows at a festival. But I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore.”
Parton, who rose from poverty in the Appalachian Mountains to global fame, emphasized her desire to spend more time with her husband, Carl Thomas Dean. The couple, married since 1966, celebrated their 50th anniversary with renewed vows in 2016.
Reflecting on her health struggles in the past, including a serious bout with endometriosis, Parton expressed a need to prioritize her well-being and be closer to home. She continues to stay busy with music projects and her NBC special, “Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas,” while also collaborating on an upcoming film adaptation with Reese Witherspoon.
As she transitions away from touring, Parton remains a symbol of resilience and inspiration to her fans worldwide.
