Sienna Stewart, an 18-year-old who bravely battled severe cardiomyopathy for years, tragically passed away shortly after collapsing at her high school graduation ceremony. Despite her health challenges, including a recent heart failure diagnosis, Sienna insisted on walking across the stage to receive her diploma. Her mother, Saevon Chum, shared that Sienna had been experiencing declining health earlier in the year.
During the graduation ceremony, Sienna suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness. Paramedics intervened swiftly, and after regaining consciousness, she tearfully expressed her determination to finish her walk across the stage. This was not the first time Sienna had experienced such episodes; she had lived with severe cardiomyopathy since the age of four and had undergone a heart transplant a decade ago.
Reflecting on the poignant moment, the high school principal halted proceedings briefly, acknowledging the distressing situation. Saevon Chum recounted to Fox5Atlanta, “She had collapsed. She had had another episode. But this was the first time she collapsed unconscious.”
Sienna’s strength and resilience touched many hearts, making her graduation a poignant testament to her courage and determination.
