A 32-year-old woman, identified as Mandy K, was severely injured by a polar bear at Berlin Zoo when she jumped into the enclosure during feeding time. To get inside, she scaled a fence, crossed a line of hedges, and climbed a wall. The bear attacked her immediately upon entry, causing serious harm to her arms, legs, and back. According to zoo officials, despite efforts by six keepers to distract the bears, one bear “repeatedly bit the victim.”
After a rescue operation, Mandy underwent surgery for her injuries and is now recovering in the hospital.
