Savannah Combs, 23, was excited to learn she was expecting twins. However, she soon discovered that both girls had Down syndrome, a rare condition. Despite knowing her family would face criticism, she embraced their uniqueness. Savannah shared her journey on TikTok with her twin daughters, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman.
Facing Criticism
Savannah faced harsh judgment, with some even suggesting she should have aborted the twins. Despite this, she chose to keep them, seeing their condition as a part of their beauty. “They’re my little gems,” she said.
A Rare Pregnancy
Twin pregnancies are already uncommon, with only 33 out of every 1,000 births resulting in twins, and identical twins occurring in just 3 to 4 out of 1,000 births. Savannah’s twins are mono-di, a type of identical twin, which is even rarer.
Triumph Over Challenges
Though born two months premature and spending time in the NICU, Savannah’s twins are thriving. “They’re beautiful and perfect,” she proudly states.
