In a heartbreaking event in Appanoose County, Iowa, 17-year-old Ayden Beeson, a recent high school Prom King, was found dead just an hour after being reported missing. On June 26, 2024, Ayden was swimming at Rathbun Lake when he disappeared underwater and did not resurface.
According to the Appanoose County Sheriff, a 911 caller reported a possible drowning. Despite efforts by the Sheriff’s Office and the Water Rescue team, Ayden’s body was recovered in 15 to 20 feet of water and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ayden was well-loved at Centerville School District, known for his leadership in football and tennis. Superintendent Mark Taylor expressed, “Such a great kid being lost in the prime of his life is just devastating for our community.”
The Centerville Community Schools’ Facebook page described Ayden as “genuinely kind” and an active member of the school. The community mourns the loss of a bright and promising young life.
