Despite the joyous occasion, Owens received mixed reactions online, with some critics questioning his choice to wear the medal. Biles defended him, stating he adores her and she’s “never met anyone quite like him.”
In addition to her Olympic success, Biles has been open about her personal growth and mental health journey. She told Hoda Kotb, “I’ve always tried to stay authentic to myself… I feel a lot more free, especially going to therapy.” Biles views therapy as a strength rather than a weakness, helping her overcome struggles like the “twisties” and embrace her true self.
