In a recent interview with Human Events’s Jack Posobiec, Michael Cassidy, the Christian veteran who removed the Satanic Baphomet statue from the Iowa State Capitol, urged Americans to rethink their values and reject Satan. Cassidy expressed concern over the mixed reactions he received, including both support and hate mail.
Cassidy noted, “I’ve received both positive and negative feedback, which has been quite remarkable. Some anonymous voices have applauded my firm stance against Satanism.” However, he also faced significant vitriol, including hateful messages from Satanists and sympathizers. Cassidy described, “I’ve received a significant amount of hate mail from Satanists and their sympathizers… via fake Facebook accounts and Twitter trolls.”
One notable example was a message from a father upset that he could no longer show the statue to his daughter. Cassidy emphasized, “It’s crucial for people to realize the profound impact these icons can have on our society.” He concluded, “I want people to reject Satan and embrace Jesus Christ… We must always focus on children because they are impressionable.”
