David Fine, a terminally ill man from Plainville, Massachusetts, is facing a heart-wrenching dilemma. With stage 4 lung cancer, David’s priority isn’t his own fate but finding a loving home for his faithful companion, Babs, a Shar-Pei/Boxer mix he rescued ten years ago.
David, 63, chose not to undergo treatment, prioritizing quality of life. His prognosis gives him just six months to live, and he’s determined to secure Babs’s future. “Unfortunately, she’s going to outlive me this time,” he expressed.
Desperate to find Babs a caring home, David sees her as his child, stating, “She is the most important thing at this point.” Assisted by animal rescuer Jennie Mann, they’re searching for the perfect match. Jennie emphasizes, “He wants someone who will love her like he does.”
Babs, described as loving but incompatible with other pets, needs a special home. While there have been interested adopters, finding the right fit remains challenging.
David’s selfless act showcases profound love, urging us to spread the word to fulfill his dying wish for Babs’s happiness.
